Jordan's Journal 7: State Champion

2010 Cyclone Basketball Commit Jordan Dykstra has jumped on the team at Cyclone Sports Report. This season he is providing a personal journal for all Iowa State fans to read.

Hey Everyone,

I am back once again and I am going to tell you about some exciting news: WE WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

I am very excited with this as this has been my dream since I was little watching my role model Deb Remmerde play in the barn. On the way to the finals against NU high we played Villisca and Iowa Mennonite. Villisca had two talented low post players but we got by them and played very well winning by 28. We didn't play very well in our next game against Iowa Mennonite but we still were able to get the win which had me pretty excited as I knew we were going to the state championship.

As a team, we tried to look at the next one as just another game and before the state championship I was more calm than I have ever been. I don't know why exactly but I knew with this group of guys that we were not going to lose. We started the game off very quickly and got up big and then they made a run back at us but after that run we controlled the whole game and ended up winning by 22 points. This season was one to remember for sure for all the winning we did but also the guys and the practices and everything was something special.

We celebrated by going to a hotel where all of our fans were and having a little pizza party there. Then we went back to our hotel and got to swim for a while. This basketball season was awesome and though I attained a lot of personal goals I was nothing without my awesome teammates and God. With that I leave you with: Go Rockets and Go Cyclones!

In Christ,

Jordan Dykstra
