Scherff Enjoys ISU Junior Day

Denison (IA) High School star Brandon Scherff talks with Cyclone Sports Report about how much he enjoyed attending his second Cyclone Junior Day.

The 6-foot-7, 275-pound tight end who is being recruited by Iowa State as either an offensive or defensive lineman had to first take the ACT on Saturday morning before heading up to an eventful day in Ames. "I couldn't get up there in the morning because of the ACT but I was still able to do a lot once I got up there," said Scherff. "The first thing that I got to do was to sit in on one of the team meetings and that was real interesting. I liked it because it shows how he's coaching and you could tell that he's been working pretty hard with the team."

Brandon, who has scholarship offers from Iowa State, Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska, then got to tour the campus before taking in the Cyclones afternoon practice. "The practice was pretty much a scrimmage and it was a great to see," he said. "A lot of the coaches came by to talk to me and the way Coach Rhoads had them fired up I kind of wanted to get our there and play."

Brandon even got to have a short conversation with the head coach near the end of the scrimmage. "Coach Rhoads told me that I'd be a big part of the Iowa State program if I went there," said Scherff. "He said that we got a long ways to go but that they are working at it and I could definitely tell that was the case from what I had seen."

As Brandon told CSR about a month ago, he still will not be making his final decision anytime soon. "I'm going to wait for a while because I want to take some official visits in the fall," he said. "I'll likely make a final decision at some point during my season next fall."
