Paige Setting Up Visit To Iowa State In June

Linn-Mar High School's Marcus Paige is busy playing for the Martin Brothers 15U-Select team but he will be taking some time out of his busy schedule to take another visit to Iowa State this summer.

"I'm not completely set on the date yet but it will be in June," he said. "I just talked to Coach T.J. (Otzelberger) today and we decided that I would come up for either the elite camp or another date in June."

The 6-foot, 150-pound point guard has been playing with friend and Cyclone target Mike Gesell on the Martin Brothers 15U team and is also staying in touch with 2012 Cyclone commit Wesley Staten and says that playing with them in college would be a great thing. "I think my friendship with them will be a bigger factor that I realize," said Paige. "Just knowing the type of guys that they are would definitely be an advantage to play with them in college."

Paige had an outstanding freshman season and now has three scholarship offers. "I just went on a visit to Iowa City the other day and they offered me a scholarship," he said. "So now I have offers from Iowa State, UNI, and Iowa. I'm also hearing a lot from Wisconsin which is the school that my sister just committed to."

Marcus has no favorites at the moment but says that he has definitely developed a solid relationship with Otzelberger over the last year. "I really like talking to Coach T.J. and we probably talk about once every two weeks," said Paige. "We definitely have a tight relationship and we don't just talk about basketball."

He feels that he learned a lot about high school basketball during his first season and is now just trying to get better. "You really have to execute every time and the intensity is definitely on a different level and so is the speed of the game," said Paige. "I feel like my defense is improving and I've gotten a lot stronger because that is my main focus. I'm just trying to become more well-rounded in all aspects and I definitely need to improve my dribbling with my right hand."

Marcus will be very busy this summer but won't be likely making any final decisions on a college in the near future. "I don't know when I'll end up picking a school," he said. "But I'm pretty confident that I won't make one any time soon this summer."
