Zelon Picks Up Offer From Iowa State

A link to Coach Rhoads past led to a recent offer to Santa Monica (CA) High School's Luke Zelon.

"Coach Rhoads was a graduate assistant for my head coach when he was in college," said Zelon. "So he contacted Coach Rhoads about me and then I was first contacted by Coach Ash. He came and saw me at my school and then they offered me about three weeks ago."

The 6-foot-3, 219-pound linebacker now has offers from Washington State, Iowa State, and Harvard but is also hearing from UCLA and North Carolina. He has also attended camps at USC, UCLA, California, and Stanford.

Luke has stayed in consistent contact with Coach Ash and says the two have definitely made a connection. "I like him a lot and feel that he is really honest," said Zelon. "They are looking at me as an outside linebacker and he told me that Coach Rhoads is definitely a defensive minded coach which I like because defense wins championships."

Zelon is not ready to make any final decision at the moment but will likely be taking an official visit to Iowa State come this fall. "I have no time frame on a decision right now," he said. "I talked with Coach Ash about a visit and it will likely have to happen after my season due to my schedule. I have no plans for an early decision and I definitely want to take all five of my visits. I want to meet all of the coaches and check out the facilities and then I'll make my decision."
