Cyclones Targeting Texas Lineman

Iowa State recently offered Arlington Martin (TX) High School's Donovan Johnson. Cyclone Sports Report caught up with Johnson to find out what position he is being recruited at by the Cyclones.

"The like me at both offensive and defensive line," said Johnson. "They told me that I could pick if I chose Iowa State. Some schools are doing the same as Iowa State and some are just looking at me to play right tackle in college."

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound lineman currently holds offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, Iowa, UNLV, UTEP, Iowa State, TCU, and Purdue. Donovan says that his play earlier in the spring led to his offer from Iowa State. "Coach Wells came down in the middle of spring ball," said Johnson. "He watched me and gave me a lot of information about Iowa State. Then they offered me about a month later. We talk about once every couple months."

He has already been to some schools and hopes to take more visits in the future. "I have gone to camps at Nebraska, TCU and UTEP so far," said Johnson. "I'm trying to also get to Purdue and Iowa State."

Donovan knows what he is looking for but does not expect to make a decision in the near future. "Education is the first thing that I'm looking at and then the coaching staff and third would be playing time," he said. "I'm going to wait until the end of my football season and then make a decision. I'm totally open but I'm kind of trying to get out of Texas and go some place new."
