The 6-foot-3, 225-pound strong-side linebacker said that he has mostly been in contact with Iowa State assistant coach Tom Herman. "He's been recruiting me the best," said Hubert. "We talk on the phone, e-mail, and he just always stays in good contact with me."
Cqulin was also happy about getting to speak with Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads recently. "He said that he is very happy that I am very interested in them and that he would be even happier if I committed to them," said Hubert. "He told me that he liked my speed, how I change direction, my pass coverage, and how I accelerate to the ball. He feels that I could become an impact player on their defense early on in my career."
Cqulin also has offers from Kansas State, Tulsa, New Mexico State, and Louisiana Monroe. He says that distance is not an issue at all and that there is one other factor that is also helping Iowa State in a big way. "I would love to play in the Big 12," said Hubert. "It would just be amazing to have the chance to have some of my games on national television."
Cqulin is currently enjoying a busy summer that could see the end of his recruitment at some point. "I've been to a Nike Camp and also to camps at Houston and SMU," he said. "I'm just looking at my options and I'm hoping to make a decision before the summer ends."
