The 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle received his first scholarship offer from Iowa State on July 9th but is also hearing from a variety of schools. "Along with Iowa State I'm also being recruited by Oklahoma State, Rutgers, Texas, Baylor, Utah, and Colorado," said Dika. "I'm also going to a camp at TCU this weekend."
Shaban has developed a very solid relationship with Cyclone offensive line coach Bill Bleil and likes the fact that his main recruiter from Iowa State would be his position coach. "I call him every week and he's really a nice guy," said Dika. "I really understand him and he's a coach that I believe in and would definitely feel comfortable with if I picked Iowa State."
So what does Bleil like about Dika as an offensive lineman? "He told me that he likes my versatility in that I can play guard and tackle," said Dika. "He also feels I'm smart enough to learn the offense fast and he really likes my size."
Shaban will be heading to Ames in August for a visit but don't expect a final decision to come down late this summer. "I'll be going there with my dad for a one-day camp on July 24th which should be a lot of fun," he said. "Once that visit is done I'm going to see where I'm at and talk things over with my dad. I'm definitely going to wait until the fall because I don't want to rush things. We want to make sure that I end up at the place that is best for me."
