Cyclones Targeting Florida Safety

Iowa State offered Frostproof (FL) High School's Clifford Morgan back in the spring. Cyclone Sports Report recently caught up with Morgan to see where his recruitment stands.

"I don't have a leader at the moment," he said. "I'm just working hard, keeping an open mind and hopefully I'll get more offers throughout the summer."

The 6-foot-2, 197-pound free safety currently holds offers from Iowa State, Colorado State, and Georgia Southern.

He says that he is definitely interested in Iowa State and that he stays in contact with their coaching staff on a consistent basis. "Coach (Wally) Burnham came down and watched me during the spring and then they gave me a scholarship offer like a week later," said Morgan. "They told me that they like how I come down and hit and my coverage skills in that I can stop the deep passes. We talk on the phone and they write me a lot. I've gotten some messages from Coach Rhoads which was nice. He's told me that they have a need at safety and that if I worked hard I would have a chance to play early."

One factor that could weigh strongly in Morgan's decision is location. "I'm not sure if I want to leave the state of Florida," he said. "I'm kind of confused at the moment on whether I want to go away or stay close. That could definitely be a big factor in my decision."
