Cyclones Like California Running Back

Rio Mesa (CA) High School's Jamaal Perkins may be currently living in California but location will not be an issue at all when he makes his final decision on where he will play his college football.

"I've grown up with parents who are in the military so I've moved a lot," said Perkins. "I actually lived a lot of my youth in Illinois so location will definitely not be a major factor in my decision."

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back currently holds offers from Iowa State, Ole Miss, Marshall, New Mexico State, and Portland State. He has camped at Ole Miss and will likely take a visit to Iowa State this fall. "I'm hoping to take a visit there this fall but I'm not sure when that will happen, said Perkins. "After I've taken some visits I'll probably make my decision during the middle of my season."

Iowa State secondary coach Chris Ash is heading up the recruitment of Jamaal for the Cyclones. "He came to my track practice during the spring and I called him two weeks later and he told me that they wanted to offer me a scholarship," said Perkins. "He told me he saw my film from last year. They like my explosiveness as a player and he said that I have good hips, and they also like my speed and vision."

Jamaal rushed for 1,109 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and also returned 12 kicks for 229 yards.
