The 6-foot-4, 230-pound tight end has offers from Iowa State, San Diego State, Wyoming, New Mexico State, and Utah State. He has spent some of this summer getting to visit most of them. "After this visit to Iowa State I will have visited all the schools that have offered me except for New Mexico State," said Richardson. "I won't be able to visit them this summer but I might go during the fall."
Pierce is also not ready to make any kind of quick decision when it comes to making his final decision. "I'm real interested in Iowa State but I'm definitely not ready to make a decision right now," he said. "I'm pretty open at this point and I probably won't make my decision until the fall."
Iowa State started recruiting Pierce back during the spring and things have stayed consistent with the Cyclones ever since. "Coach Ash called me in May and told me that they were interested and then Coach Herman showed up to watch my practice the next day," said Richardson. "I've talked with him and he said that he feels he could utilize me like he did James Casey at Rice. He said that he felt that I can create a mismatch against linebackers and safeties."
Iowa State then offered a scholarship to Richardson a month later. "They stayed on me into June and then they called my coach and told him to have me call Coach Ash," he said. "I called Coach Ash and he told me that they were offering me a scholarship. We have stayed in touch since then and I really like that they run the spread and no-huddle offense because we do the same at my high school."
