Cyclone Commitment Roundup Week 5

Iowa State commit Chris Young was back on the field this past week as his recovery from an ankle injury continued while another Cyclone commit sat out his game due to a foot injury.

Durrell Givens/Ricky Howard: Chaffey (CA) College suffered another tough loss 21-14 to Cerritos College to fall to 2-3 on the season. This week they take on #1 ranked El Camino Junior College. The Panthers once again ran the ball more so tight end Ricky Howard was only targeted three times and ended up with one catch for 9 yards. Safety Durrell Givens sat ou the game with a bruised foot. He told Cyclone Sports Report this week that his foot is getting better and that he is likely to play this weekend.

Jacob Gannon: The Iowa City West High School offensive tackle helped lead an offensive that scored 21 points but it wasn't enough as they fell to Cedar Rapids Washington 44-21. They are now 2-4 on the season and hope to get a win this week when they take on Dubuque Wahlert High School. Jacob also told Cyclone Sports Report that he looking forward to taking an unofficial visit to Ames next week for the Baylor game.

Jared Barnett: Helped Garland (TX) High School move to 4-1 on the season by completing 8 of 11 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns in their 38-0 victory. This week they go for their fifth win when they take on Sachse High School.

Tom Farniok: Helped his #1 ranked Sioux Falls (SD) Washington High School to another impressive victory over Brookings High School. Tom only played one half but his blocking helped the team put up 220 rushing yards in just the first half in the 55-6 route moving their record to 6-0. This week they take on Spearfish High School.

Cqulin Hubert: The newest Cyclone commitment had five tackles for a loss and a forced fumble in just one half of play before being rested in a 37-0 victory over MacArthur High School. Eisenhower is now 4-2 on the season.

T.J. McCullough: The Citra (FL) North Marion High School star had 4 tackles and 2 pass break-ups in their 45-6 victory to move their record to 4-1. This week they take on Bellview High School.

Kirby Van Der Kamp: The Wes Des Moines (IA) Valley punter had two punts in their 45-13 victory over Mason City to move their record to 4-2. His punts were 42 and 58 yards and this week he'll be kicking against Waukee.

Chris Young: The Trinity Valley wide receiver has an improving ankle that helped him catch 2 balls for 34 yards. His team lost 42-32 to Navarro Junior College.
