Cyclones Offer Loth

Iowa State made their second offer to a Crespi (CA) High School player recently when they offered offensive tackle Ben Loth. He'll be joining his teammate and Cyclone recruiting target Pierce Richardson this weekend for an official visit.

"Going on a visit to Iowa State is far away from what I'm used to but I'm thinking it might be a good thing," said Loth. "I'm going to check things out and I'll make my decision on Iowa State based off that."

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle also has offers from Fresno State and UNLV and says that he's not sure when he'll make a final decision. "I don't have a set time to make a final decision," said Loth. "When I see what I want I'll know that it is the right place for me. It won't be one specific thing but more a combination of things in a college that will work for me."

Ben has been hearing from Iowa State for a while but their pursuit of him has really picked up recently. "I got letters from them for a few months and then Coach Ash called and told me they were offering me a scholarship about two weeks ago," he said. "He told me that they like my physical play, my drive blocking, and he told me that they feel I have a lot of potential."

Ben is looking forward to taking the trip with his teammate Pierce Richardson but says that while the two are very close that they are not a package deal. "He's really a good friend of mine and it might affect my decision if he picked Iowa State but ultimately I will make my decision separate of him," he said. "He's got to do what is best for him and if it ends up happening where we go to the same school that would be great but it won't be planned that way."

Ben recently got to talk with Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads and came away very impressed. "It was really great getting to talk to him," said Loth. "He's seems like a great guy and I really look forward to meeting him in person."
