West heading to Iowa State

Cyclone Sports Report broke the story early Sunday morning that St.Petersburg (FL) Gibbs High School wide receiver Jarvis West was close to becoming a Cyclone. It just took a little over a day for him to make things official by pledging his verbal commitment to Iowa State.

"I just wanted to talk with my parents about it," said West. "They just told me to do whatever made me happy and so I chose to commit to Iowa State today."

The 5-foot-6, 145-pound wide receiver runs a 4.3 forty and is expected to be used in a variety of ways in the new Iowa State spread offense.

His visit this weekend clearly sealed the deal for West. "It was really great and it just felt like home to me," he said. "I had a really good time and really liked everything about it."

Jarvis feels the future at Iowa State is very bright thanks to its new head coach. "I really like what Coach Rhoads is doing there," said West.

"With the recruiting class that he is bringing in I really think we can make the team better in the future."
