CSR Breakdown: Laron Dendy

Iowa State assistant coach Daniyal Robinson provides his insight on newcomer Laron Dendy exclusively on Cyclone Sports Report.

Cyclone Sports Report: What has Laron improved on the most since last season?

Coach Robinson: He checked in at 210 pounds and he's now about 221 pounds so that's good as we're trying to get him to about 225 for the season. He has really improved his 15 to 16 foot jump shot and he's someone that we need to be explosive on the pick and pop in our offense. He also becoming a very good offensive rebounder.

Cyclone Sports Report: What do you feel he can still improve on with his game?

Coach Robinson: We want him to keep working on his ability to drive the ball from the high post. He's a high energy guy but we want him working on playing harder for long periods of time. He sometimes gets a little fatigued because it's such a drastic change at this level of play.

Cyclone Sports Report: What role do you see him filling this season?

Coach Robinson: We expect him to bring unbelievable energy every time out. Whether he is starting or coming off the bench he needs to make effort plays on offense and defensively. He is going to play an important role and with his size and energy he brings something that we haven't had since Mac (Coach McDermott) has been here.
