The 6-foot-1, 290-pound defensive tackle will be visiting Ames this weekend and he already has a few things that he will be focusing on during his time at Iowa State. "I'm really looking forward to getting to know the coaching staff better and seeing how the players connect with each other," said Kirksey. "I'm also really looking forward to looking into their academics because I plan on majoring in history and so that is one thing that I definitely plan on checking out."
Kenneth has already visited Florida International and will likely visit Rutgers in two weeks. He is not sure if he will end up making it to Michigan State.
Kirksey says that Iowa State has been recruiting him for a very long time. "They started looking at me at the end of my junior season and then they came last spring to see me," he said. "My recruiting coach for them is Coach Messingham and I really like him because he's real funny and we are able to talk about a lot of things."
Kenneth has also gotten to talk with Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads and he seems very impressed with what Rhoads did in his first season at Iowa State. "He told me that they like my aggressiveness and explosiveness," said Kirksey who had 8 sacks and 110 tackles on the season. "He's real cool and he told me that he feels that I could have a big impact on the team right away. He wants me to come there to help put them on the map."
Kirksey also pointed out that Coach Rhoads impressed him with his defensive background. "I really like that he's a defensive-minded coach. It's just like my high school coach who was a defensive lineman when he played football. You get extra help from your position coach and from the head coach which is nice."
