Melvin Ejim: I really got to watch a great game and half the time I was on the court jumping around cheering on the guys. Part of the time I wished that I was in the game trying to help them get a win. The fans were amazing throughout the game.
Cyclone Sports Report: DeMarcus Phillips, who is also one of the members of the 2010 recruiting class, was also at the game. Did you get to talk with him at all during the visit?
Melvin Ejim: Yeah, we had some casual talk and got to know each other. That was good because I'll probably be living with him next year.
Cyclone Sports Report: You have mostly communicated with Coach Otzelberger throughout your recruitment. Did the visit help with getting to know the other coaches on the staff better throughout the weekend?
Melvin Ejim: Yeah, I've gotten to know Coach Robinson pretty well and I really clicked with him. This weekend also gave me a good chance to get to know Coach McDermott better and we had some great talks. We talked about our seasons but we also got personal and really got to know each other better which was cool.
Cyclone Sports Report: What did you think about how Iowa State runs things during the game in regards to how you might fit in next year?
Melvin Ejim: It definitely helped me to see up close how they run things and I like how they go to Marquis (Gilstrap) and the other wings a lot because that's what I'll be playing. I like how they had a lot of fast breaks and how they really go after it.
Cyclone Sports Report: What players did you hang out with most during the visit?
Melvin Ejim: I got to work out a little bit with Marquis and Craig (Brackins) on Sunday and then I just went back and watched the Super Bowl with Craig at his place.
Cyclone Sports Report: You came on the visit with your parents. What did they think of Iowa State?
Melvin Ejim: I took them around the campus on Saturday before the game and they really liked it. They enjoyed the game and getting to see the Academic Center.
