The Iowa State head coach made it very clear why they were making the offer to Barnes. "He told me that one of their main shooters had left them during the season last year and the they really wanted to fill that spot," he said. "He told me that my role would be to fill that shooting guard spot."
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard says that the entire visit went well. "My mom and I both really liked it," he said. "We liked the arena, the practice facility, and the entire campus. The campus was nice because it wasn't too big."
He also liked getting to hang with some of the players. "It was nice that I got to scrimmage with the team and I felt I played pretty well," said Barnes. "I mostly hung out with Scott Christopherson and Jamie Vanderbeken. They showed me all around and I really enjoyed getting to hang out with those guys."
Bo made it clear that the Iowa State coaching staff is a major reason why he is so high on the Cyclones. "Coach Rutter's a great guy and he took me around most of the weekend and I also got to spend a lot of time with Coach McDermott," he said. "It's a big plus for Iowa State because Coach McDermott is really a nice guy and they are definitely a staff that I could play for in the future."
Bo plans to take his second visit to Hawaii next weekend and then he might be ending his recruitment shortly after he returns.
"It will ultimately come down to where I feel the situation fits me best," said Barnes. "Right now Iowa State and Hawaii are recruiting me the hardest and so I might make a decision after next weekend but I'm not sure yet. Virginia and Creighton are still recruiting me and there is a chance that I might take some more visits."
