Cyclones showing interest in Texas RB

Coppell (TX) High School's Cam McDaniel has seen his recruitment grow this spring and one school that has clearly caught his eye is Iowa State.

"Iowa State is definitely recruiting me hard," said McDaniel. "They have sent quite a few letters and I have mostly been talking with Coach Wells. I'm keeping the door open to all schools but they are definitely a school that I have been trying to learn more about."

So what does Coach Wells and the Iowa State staff like about McDaniel?

"Coach Wells is a real colorful guy who has been really straight forward with me," said McDaniel. "He just told me that he likes my elusiveness and that he feels that I fit perfectly in their offense. He likes my versatility and feels that I can make plays when I'm running, catching, or returning the ball."

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back currently holds offers from Stanford, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Navy, Minnesota, Iowa, Tulsa, and Colorado.

Cam has had a very busy schedule during the spring and early summer but he told Cyclone Sports Report that a visit to Ames in the future is very likely.

"I have already been on visits to Iowa, Stanford, and Texas Tech and I camped at Texas and TCU," he said. "With those visits and my 7 on 7 schedule I just haven't had much time. Coach Wells definitely wants to get me on campus as soon as possible. I'll most likely come to Iowa State in the fall to see a game.

So when might McDaniel be making his final decision?

"I'm praying about it," he said. "I feel will give me confirmation on where I need to go and then I'll make my decision. It will be wherever I fit in his plan and if I fulfill his purpose then nothing can go wrong."
