Three Cyclones on 'Specialty Teams'

DALLAS, Texas--The Iowa State basketball team had three representatives on various Big 12 specialty teams, announced today by the Big 12 Conference Office in Dallas, Texas.

ISU's Jackson Vroman and Tim Barnes were named to the all-newcomer team and Adam Haluska was picked for the all-freshman squad. Vroman, a 6-10 junior center from Bountiful, Utah, has been the Cyclones' best rebounder in 2002-03, leading the squad and ranking fifth in the league with a 9.3 rpg average. Vroman, who is averaging 11.9 ppg, leads the team with 10 double-doubles.

A 6-0 guard from Henderson, Ky., Barnes has started 26 games for ISU at point guard. Barnes leads the team in steals (33) and assists (134), ranking fifth in the Big 12 in dishes.

Haluska, who has started all 27 games, is aiming to become only the second Cyclone in school history to start every game of their rookie season. The Carroll, Iowa native ranks second on the school's freshman 3-pointers made chart with 39 and his 9.7 ppg scoring average is second among Big 12 rookies.
