Meet Tyler Trosin

Some players just seem to fit perfectly with a specific system and that is why Iowa State is targeting Folsom (CA) High School's Tyler Trosin who put up a monster season in 2009 playing in the spread formation.

"I like the fact that Iowa State plays the spread and they are looking at me to play the slot receiver spot," said Trosin. "I just feel the spread offense is great because it gives me the best opportunity to have more room to make plays. It really makes it hard on the defense to focus just on one player."

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound wide receiver had 81 catches for 1,446 yards and 26 touchdowns last season in helping to lead Folsom High School to the CIF semi-finals.

Iowa State began recruiting him later during the spring.

"They saw my film and then Coach Bleil came to my school last year," said Trosin. "They then offered me in the spring. We have talked a few times and he sends me a lot of mail. He likes that I'm a versatile player and that I can make explosive plays in the spread offense."

Tyler currently has five scholarship offers.

"I have offers from Arizona State, Oregon State, Iowa State, Washington State, and I just got one from Hawaii," he said. "I'm also hearing a lot from UCLA and Oregon."

So has Tyler taken any visits this summer and will he be taking one to Iowa State?

"I have taken unofficial visits to Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, and Oregon State," said Trosin. "Coach Bleil wants to get me to Iowa State for a visit this fall and I expect to do that for one of their games."

So does Tyler have any favorites at the moment?

"I'm pretty wide open right now with my recruitment," he said. "If I had to pick one school that has a slight edge right now it would be Oregon State but overall I'm pretty open to all of the schools."
