IMO Gramball gives us the best chance for high finish at Nationals. I thought for just coming back he wrestled Ruth OK. Is this a one and done for Gambrall or is it up in the air with him and Lofthouse?
I have no insider info on this. I think right now it's a wait and see. If you see Lofthouse back in the line-up this weekend then I would bet that Gambrall was a one-and-done against PA State. Gambrall does travel with the team to all the away meets. He has to be ready to wrestle for them, so he should be good to take the spot if need be.
I'm not in the room ever during practice, so I couldn't really say if there was an advantage one way or the other from that perspective.
I'm thinking it's too late in the season to be making a change. I'm not a fan of Lofthouse (not sure why - he certainly is scoring points in his matches). If you look at his results http://www.d1collegewrestling....ELofthouse.html, it's hard to justify him losing the starting position - his record is 12-4, and of those 12 wins, 9 were for bonus pts. His 4 losses were to Hamlin and Steinhaus (both studs) and to Chionuma and Rizqallah (ranked guys, but yes, Lofthouse should have won).
If he continues in the lineup, he'll no doubt qualify for NCAAs and score pts. for the team. There are 5 studs at 184, and I'm not sure Lofthouse will beat any of them (Ruth, Bosak, Steinhaus, Hamlin, and Bennett), but could still get AA, which is what the team needs.
