It's the last home meet of the season, meaning it's senior day. If you can't make it to Des Moines, then make it to Iowa City and support our team.
The Hawkeyes will honor graduating seniors Mark Ballweg, Jeret Chiri, Grant Gambrall and Matt McDonough following the dual.
Here's a quick anaylsis on Edinboro (who by the way is the regular season champs of their conference).
#2 Iowa vs #15 Edinboro
125 Kory Mines, 13-15 So
133 #3 A.J. Schopp, 25-2 So
141 #5 Mitchell Port, 25-3 So
149 #16 Dave Habat, 22-7 So
157 Casey Fuller, 6-9 So
OR Michael DePalma, 20-10 Fr
165 Johnny Greisheimer, 15-10 Jr
174 Patrick Jennings, 12-19 Fr
184 Vince Pickett, 19-13 Fr
197 Warren Bosch, 12-14 Fr
HWT #20 Ernest James, 19-8 Jr
There should be 3 good matches in this meet: 133, 141, 149. The rest should be all Iowa. Note how young this Edinboro team is...it's mostly sophomores.
125 - This is all Iowa. Mines has put in some great effort for Edinboro, even keeping a scoring machine like Jarrod Garnett of VA Tech to a regular decision. However any guy who's been ranked at some point, whom he's faced he's lost to.
133 - This will be the toughest competition that Ramos has faced to date. I can't wait to see what happens. I don't even want to make predictions, I just want to have them go out and wrestle. Schopp has 10 pins on the season. His losses are to Tyer Graff of WI and Ryan Mango of Stanford (who is redshirting this year).
141 - Another match where I simply want to watch and find out the outcome. How good is Ballweg now that we're getting close to the end of the season?
149 - Habat's best win this season was against #15 Danield Young of Army. He's lost to #3 Donnie Vinson of Binghamton and #6 Nic Brascetta of VA Tech by regular decisions (2pts).
157 - Neither Edinboro wrestler has pulled in a significant win. It will be a tough row to hoe for either man against St. John.
165 - Greisheimer has had only a few tough match-ups this year and has lost to any ranked wrestler he faces. I'm looking for Moore to continue to build his confidence in this match.
174 - I expect Evans to show off some fire-power in this match. If he doesn't I will be greatly disappointed.
184 - Pickett has been doing the best he can filling in the spot from Vic Avery, but he's got some development to do before getting good wins.
197 - Bosch loves to win by pin in the second period. If he doesn't succeed at that, he has a higher than average chance of losing in the third.
285 - James' best match is a one point loss to Jarod Trice of Central Michigan. I think that's pretty good. With Telford performing like he has over the past few matches, I expect it to be a win for Iowa.
