'11 Penn DT Trying to Set Up Iowa Visit

The scholarship offers are being snatched up a record pace for Iowa but there still are some big targets on the table. Delvon Simmons fits that mold literally and figuratively. The 2011 DT product from McKeesport, Pa. is trying to set up a visit to see the Hawkeyes during the season.

Delvon Simmons, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive tackle from McKeesport High School sounded pretty confident a few weeks back about getting an offer from Penn State, so we contacted him on Sunday to find out if that offer materialized. While we had him on the phone, he filled us in on some other recruiting information.

"I didn't get that offer from Penn State yet, so I guess they're still considering it," Simmons said. "My coach hasn't mentioned anything to me about it, but I've been keeping in contact with them, so we'll see what happens."

"I'm trying to set up a visit to go to Iowa and I took an official visit to Rutgers two weeks ago to see them play UNC," Simmons stated. "It was a good visit. I liked the campus, the coaches, the players and everything they showed me basically. Nothing really stood out to me out of the norm to be honest, it was just a good overall visit."

"I'm going to try and take this visit to Iowa during the regular season and then take the rest of my visits after my season."

McKeesport is off to a 5-1 start to their season.
