Law's Coach Calls Him Explosive

Iowa received its 16th known verbal commitment in the 2011 recruiting class on Wednesday when MD Safety Nicholas Law decided. Hawkeye Insider caught up with his coach at Bishop McNamara to find out more about the newest Hawkeye.

Bryce Bevill speaks matter-of-factly, no doubt in his voice. The Bishop McNamara Coach believes in the skills of his senior safety, Nicholas Law.

"He's a hard-working kid and very, very explosive," Bevill said. "He's a safety-outside linebacker type that can make plays. He's 6-2 or 6-3, 195 pounds and can run a 4.4 (second, 40-yard dash)."

Law became Iowa's 16th known verbal commitment on Monday. He officially visited the school this weekend. ranks Law as a three-star prospect on its five-star scale. The service tabs him as the 74th-rated safety in the 2011 Class.

"He's really versatile, so I could see him playing safety or linebacker in college," Bevill said. "He can play on the hash or come down on the blocks. I think that's why so many colleges (were) interested in him because he fits into so many different schemes. He's also very, very physical."

Law is a sprinter on the Bishop McNamara track team

It's not been a good season for McNamara (0-9). The Mustangs were scheduled to finish up the season this Friday at DeMatha.

Bevill said Law carries a 3.2 grade point average.
