Iowa a Foreign Land to OL Justin Hartig

Adding the icing to the cake, many Hawk fans felt the incoming OL class was influxed with talent further after the commitment of OL Mike Jones. It was reported that OL Justin Hartig would be joining the squad as a preferred walk-on with the strong possibility of earning a scholarship shortly afterwards. However, complications arose and now Justin appears to be set for the sunshine state.

Transcripts can always put a delay in the recruitment of any prospect, but in the case of OL Justin Hartig, it ruined any hopes of becoming an Iowa Hawkeye.

"I was set to walk-on at Iowa, but not everything worked out," Justin said. "Iowa required a foreign language, and at my school they do not offer a good foreign language program. Therefore, I was not accepted into the school."

While Justin will no longer be within the cornfields of Iowa, he did receive a ray of sunshine.

"Central Florida entered the mix just recently. They came out of nowhere, and have asked me to take a greyshirt. They want me to go to a junior college for a semester and then to join the program. That is what I believe I'll be doing at this point. They are suppose to get back in touch with me after April 1st."

Lastly, for Hawk fans, how much interest did the Hawks show? Were they willing to extend a scholarship?

"I thought Iowa was going to offer as they recruited me heavily. At first, they didn't show much interest because they believed I was committed to Notre Dame, whom had me #3 on their list and they landed both their top targets. Then they asked me to walk-on; saying there was a good chance I could earn a scholarship. They didn't guarantee me anything."
