Another Step for Perry

Urbandale's Travis Perry visited Iowa for the third time this season on Saturday for the Ohio State game. The Class of 2011 product spoke with Reese Morgan and liked what the Hawkeye assistant told him.

Travis Perry came to Iowa City Saturday hoping to speak with the Iowa coaches, something he hadn't done in several weeks. The Class of 2011 athlete wanted to get an idea where he stood with the Hawkeyes.

Perry left Kinnick Stadium feeling much better than when he entered it.

"Coach (Reese) Morgan said they were talking about me in their meetings a few days ago" Perry said. "He told me that he would be at school (Urbandale High) to meet with my coach after the Minnesota game."

The 6-foot-2 1/2, 205-pound Perry visited Northern Iowa last weekend. He had been at Iowa for the Ball State and Michigan State games this season.

Perry holds scholarships from North Dakota and Eastern Illinois. Iowa, Iowa State and Eastern are recruiting him as an outside linebacker. UNI views him as a safety and North Dakota sees him as a wide receiver.

"I'm pretty encouraged," Perry said of his contact with Iowa on Saturday. I'll have to wait and see what Coach Morgan says to my high school coach in a couple of weeks."
