The Iowa Hawkeyes are beginning their quarterback hunt by targeting some of the nation's best. After offering QB Chase Patton, the Hawks have also extended an offer to QB Anthony Morelli. He will be ranked as one of the top ten quarterbacks this upcoming year. TheInsiders.com National Recruiting Anaylst, Jamie Newberg, filed this report.
There are many top-notch quarterback prospects among the Class of 2004 and one of the best will be Anthony Morelli
(Pa.) Penn Hills High School. Morelli, 6-4 and 210 pounds, threw for 1,880 yards (78/148) and 21 touchdowns last season.
"I think I am a pure passer that can throw all the passes," Morelli said. "I am a leader that leads by example and I will get in your face. I can also move pretty well (4.7 forty). I did rush for five touchdowns last season."
According to Morelli, he currently has 17 scholarship offers from such schools like Pittsburgh, Penn State, West Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, Cincinnati, UCLA, Virginia and Ohio State.
"I just want to take all my visits and I would love to play early. Coaching will be important and I want to see what offense I like. I think I fit into most."
Morelli plans on attending the Penn State Nike Camp and also hopes to camp this summer at Pittsburgh.
