After being named District 8-5A Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2009 as a sophomore, Plano linebacker Xavier Harbert solidified himself as a future D-1 player in 2010.

"Most schools are recruiting me as a linebacker or standup defensive end," said Harbert. "Currently Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Iowa, and Iowa State are all showing me interest.

"I would say Texas A&M is getting close to offering me. I went to their junior day a couple weeks ago. It was nice. I really liked the facilities and the coaches there. If they offer, I will be accepting it."

A 6-foot-2, 220 pound prospect, Harbert also has plans to attend Kansas' junior day in the coming weeks. Early playing time will be the biggest factor with the junior. He hopes to hit the field as soon as possible.

"Right now, Iowa is sending me a lot of brochures, letters, and stuff like that. They are recruiting me, but not really hard," said Harbert to Scout.com.

Harbert describes himself as a hard nose player that is very athletic. He currently runs a 4.8 forty.

His 2010 stats are unknown, but as a sophomore splitting time, Harbert recorded 40 tackles, three quarterback hurries, and one interception as a linebacker.
