Westerkamp gives Nebraska ringing endorsement

Wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp is on a Midwest tour, checking out a full list of schools that have offered. On Friday and Saturday, he was in Lincoln for the Cornhuskers' spring game. What did he think? Should Nebraska fans be excited about this one? Scout.com/FoxSports has the answers.

Montini Catholic high school wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp pretty much has his choice of school in the Midwest. After a ringing endorsement for Nebraska on Saturday night, you can't help but wonder if the newest Big Ten team has jumped to the top of his recruitment.

"I really enjoyed my visit to Lincoln," said Westerkamp, who was visiting the Cornhuskers' spring game. "I knew Nebraska would have great facilities and I know they have a great tradition.

"I was able to meet Coach Pelini, Coach Beck, and Coach Fisher. I also got to meet Tom Osborne and the head of academics. I was very impressed with everything and it's definitely a school I'm considering. I'm still planning visits before I make my decision."

Westerkamp, who is currently a Scout.com 3-star receiver and rated No. 42 in the country, was an All-State selection as a junior, catching 89 balls for 23 touchdowns.

"The game was great. They had about 70,000 people there. The fans definitely are into football there," said the junior. "They flashed a bit of the new spread offense they are going to be running this year. That was pretty exciting to see the ball in the air quite a bit."

Westerkamp hopes to narrow down his school list in the next couple of months according to InsideIllini.com.

The junior should have gotten a good look at Nebraska as a whole. He also spent much of Friday in Lincoln.
