If at first you don't get the scholarship offer, try, try again.
After participating in a one-day camp at Iowa last Saturday, 2012 Quarterback Recruit Mitch Leidner is expected to return to Iowa City this coming Saturday in hopes of getting the Hawkeye coaches to offer.
"I talked with Coach (Eric) Johnson (on Monday night)," Leidner said in a text message. "He said (the Iowa coaches) narrowed it down to me and two other (quarterbacks). They said they were going to wait until after next Saturday before they make decisions.
"So, there is a pretty good chance I am going to go back down for camp on Saturday so I can show them another glimpse of what I can do."
Hawkeye Insider brought you a story on Leidner's recruitment last week. You can get the background of the Minnesota prospect here.
Iowa is evaluating quarterbacks at its camps this month. Leidner, Hayden Northern, Zach Terrell, Kyle Brown, Ryan West and Collin Michael are among a group of signal callers that are expected to camp or already have camped with the Hawkeyes. None of them are reporting an offer from the program.
Iowa is believed to be taking one scholarship quarterback for 2012. Wes Lunt also is in the picture as are Gunner Kiel and Devin Fuller, who already have offers, and Wes Lunt and Robert Gregory, who don't have offers.
