The plot thickens.
A day after Mitch Leidner said that the Iowa coaches told him he was their No. 1, fellow 2012 Minnesota quarterback Joe Mollberg said the Hawkeye staff told him Wednesday that he's in their Top 2 with Leidner.
"They said I had a great camp (on Saturday)," Mollberg said. "Leidner and I are the top two for right now. They said I have the best feet, mechanics, and release of the top 5."
Mollberg confirmed the Iowa timetable that the school shared with Leidner and fellow prospect Austin Pritchard this week. The Hawkeyes have decided to wait until at least fall to offer a quarterback scholarship in the class.
"They said they were going to be waiting a little while before offer, possibly a couple games into the senior season," Mollberg said. "They told me they were very impressed with me, though."
Mollberg told me on Tuesday that he likely would only wait until the end of the summer for scholarship offers. He wanted to commit before his senior season.
"We (he and his family) are still talking about that," Mollberg said. "I'm not sure if I will wait or not (on Iowa)."
South Dakota State, North Dakota State and North Dakota have extended offers to Mollberg. Northern Illinois also has shown consistent interest in the Detroit Lakes High product.
