Dakota Getz made it back from injury to open the game on kickoff coverage. He hurt is leg on the play and did not return. Ferentz called it a season-ending knee injury.
Carl Davis dressed this week after siting out the opener. He entered the game in the fourth quarter.
Tyler Nielsen missed much of the opening series with an ankle injury. The senior LB did return later in the drive when Iowa recovered a fumble.

-True freshman Jake Rudock, Austin Blythe and Jordan Canzeri made the trip and were in uniform for the game. They did not play. Ferentz likes to bring some first-year guys that redshirt to away games so they get a feel for the road.
-Kirk Ferentz's record fell to 6-7 against Iowa State and 2-5 at Jack Trice.
-Iowa now has allowed opposing running backs to rush for at least 100 yards in the first two games. Shontrelle Johnson ran for 108 yards on 18 carries for Iowa State.
-James Vandenberg has not thrown an interception through two gamaes.
-Iowa State recorded three touchbacks on five kickoffs. The Hawkeyes had none in six kickoffs.
-Christian Kirksey rolled up a game-high 13 tackles for Iowa. He registered a sack and two tackles for loss.
-Iowa State did not punt in the second half.
-Keenan Davis caught five passes for 95 yards and a touchdown for the Hawkeyes.
-Iowa punter Eric Guthrie posted a 48.8-yard average on four punts. Two were downed inside the ISU 20.
