Anthony Clemmons sets out on the road the next two weekends as the 2012 Michigan point guard searches for a college basketball home.
Shortly after committing to Eastern Michigan last month, 2012 Point Guard Anthony Clemmons re-opened his recruitment. The Lansing, MI product wanted to make sure of his decision.
Things are opening up for 6-foot-1, 185-pound playmaker. He reports that he will be making official visits to Northern Illinois this weekend and Iowa the following weekend.
"I've also gotten some calls from Western Kentucky," Clemmons said. "I'm at the top of their list. Out first open gym is (Monday). Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan are still in the running."
Clemmons said that he's had a lot of contact with the Hawkeyes recently.
"Their whole staff is coming to my open gym on Wednesday," he said. "I'm looking forward to my official visit out there."
Clemmons said that Iowa has not offered a scholarship but indicated to him that "most likely on his visit, I will have one."
Iowa has received three verbal commitments in the '12 Class - Kyle Meyer, Mike Gesell and Patrick Ingram. Head Coach Fran McCaffery has six rides in hand if he chooses to use them.
Here's a story I did on Clemmons last month when he re-opened his recruitment.
Gesell was recruited as a point guard, but McCaffery could fill another of his '12 scholarships with a floor leader. The Hawkeyes have just one scholarship point on the roster in the coming season, senior Bryce Cartwright. They'll rely on Devyn Marble, a natural two, to back up the position the position this winter.
