Top100 LB Considering Iowa

The last two years, Coach Ferentz's connections at Erie Cathedral have been mentioned with the signing of Bob Sanders and Ed Hinkel. This year, it appears Coach Ferentz's days as Assistant Head Coach of the Baltimore Ravens might possibly help the Hawks with studs LB/TE Stan White and RB Malcolm Ruff from Gilman High School, same school Brian Ferentz attended before coming to Iowa City.

Stan White (6'3 228) is one of the top prospects on the east coast. With nearly 20 offers, he has his choice of what part of the country he'd like to play in, ranging from Stanford to Iowa to Florida.

"The main schools to offer me so far have been Stanford, Ohio State, North Carolina, Duke, Iowa, West Virginia, and Florida," said Stan. "I've taken visits to Ohio State, North Carolina, and Duke. Ohio State was the best out of those three because of their tradition, facilities, and their new coaching staff. They were all good people."

"I have interest in Iowa because of my relationship with Brian and Coach Ferentz. I attended Middle School with Brian and we had french class together. My dad knows Coach Ferentz better than I do since he is a reporter out here and he covered Coach Ferentz with the Ravens, but I know Coach Ferentz is a great guy. He is considered a great O-Line coach and he did a great job with the Ravens. He has the Iowa program heading in the right direction."

"Right now I'm 6'3 228, 60% of the schools are recruiting me as a LB and 40% are as a TE. Iowa hasn't specified either so they are recruiting me as an athlete. I made one first team all-state as a LB and one other as a TE last year as a JR. I really have no preference of which position I play, just as along as I get out on the field."

Stan recently made Tom Lemming's Top100 list at ESPN, Top100 List. Therefore, Stan is just one more top100 quality recruit to add to Iowa's list. Iowa hasn't gotten any commitments yet, but stands well with a lot of great prospects. If Iowa is able to get back to a bowl game this season, December and January should be VERY interesting!!!!
