"I guess Iowa just had what I thought was a program that would fit me better," Gorney said of his selection. "I knew [where I wanted to go] about a week after my official visit to Ohio State."
Gorney, a future business major, took visits to both the Hawkeyes and Buckeyes this month. "I just felt like I fit in there. I got along great with the players and coaches and the school itself is wonderful."
Last season, Gorney averaged 9 rebounds and 13 points a game. He runs with the Columbus Basketball Club and will attend the Nike All-American Camp. CBC will also play at the Big Time. Gorney is Iowa's second commitment of the year. They added Alex Thompson, a member of the Martin Bros. Select AAU team, earlier in the year. They join J.R. Angle, whom committed as a freshman in high school, to complete the class of 2003 at this point.
