Lohn Still Waiting

With national signing day closing in, '12 Kansas City Defensive End Nate Lohn still is in the process of making his decision. He gives Hawkeye Insider the latest in this recruiting update.

Nathanael Lohn wants to see all the cards on the table before finalizing his college decision. He's waiting on Stanford to show its hand.

The Class of 2012 defensive end sent in his application to the Northern California school on late October. He has not yet found out if he has been accepted.

"I just feel like I need to hear back from Stanford to see if that is a full option," Lohn said. "I'm still just considering schools and I hope to have a decision by the end of next week."

Lohn's Final Three consists of Stanford, Iowa and Kansas State. He holds offers from all three.

Lohn has officially visited Stanford and Iowa. Kansas State has been trying to get him in for an official next weekend.

"The process is still kind of open until I hear from Stanford," Lohn said. "I'm hoping that will be this week. It could be next week as well."

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Lohn is rated as a three-star recruit by Scout.com. The service ranks him as the 73rd best defensive end in his class.

"I get a lot of people asking me why it's talking so long," he said. "I think I'm a three-star or something. Guys like me usually don't wait this long.

"I really appreciate the schools hanging in there with me. I just really want to see if Stanford is a full option."

Iowa has stayed in touch with Lohn.

"I talk to Coach (Eric) Johnson a lot," he said. "I really like he and Coach (Kirk) Ferentz. They're great guys."
