Hill Flips to Iowa

Barkley Hill decided last spring that Iowa State was the place for him. Then, Iowa offered the 2012 Cedar Falls RB a scholarship in the summer and worked hard to change his mind. After an official visit last weekend, Hill decided on the Hawkeyes.

Long-time Cedar Falls Coach Pat Mitchell confirmed on Monday that his senior running back, Barkley Hill, had switched his verbal commitment from Iowa State to Iowa.

Hill could not be reached for comment. He's not spoken to the media about his recruitment in several months.

Hill rushed for 2,493 yards and 40 touchdowns in helping Cedar Falls to an 11-2 record and a position in the Class 4A state semifinals. He injured his MCL in that game but his back to good health, according to Co-Cedar Falls Head Coach Brad Remmert.

Hill is believed to be Iowa's 19th verbal commitment in the 2012 Class. National Signing Day is Feb. 1.

Iowa saw two running backs - Marcus Coker and Mika'il McCall- transfer earlier this month. It also received a verbal commitment from Erie, PA RB Greg Garmon, a four-star recruit.

Scout.com ranks Hill as a two-star prospect on its five-star scale. The service lists him as the 119th best RB nationally in the '12 group.
