At 6-foot-3, 290-pounds, Antar Thompson stands out in a crowd. His football talents make him even more noticeable.

The Class of 2013 defensive tackle from Maplewood- Richmond Heights (MO) High reports scholarship offers from Missouri, Kansas State and Western Kentucky. Iowa, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas and Illinois also are showing interest, he said.

"I'm just kind of weighing things right now," Thompson said. "I'm not in a hurry."

Thompson has unofficially visited Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri.

"Kansas State is standing out," Thompson said. "They take it serious there."

Thompson hasn't set up any more visits yet. His track season conflicts with traveling to colleges at this time of year. He throws the shot put.

"I'm looking for a school that wins," he said. "I'm also looking to stay close to home. I'm not trying to go far away."

Thompson said he's getting to know programs and coaches.

"I've been messaging with (Iowa assistant) Eric Johnson on Facebook," he said. "It's going well."

Thompson said he will start taking unofficial visits after his track season concludes. He's also looking into attending summer camps at some of the schools interested in him.

"I'm going to take as long as takes to find a place I want to go to," Thompson said. "I'm not looking to make a quick decision."
