All-America candidate Kyle Williams has had Iowa at the top of his wish list since February, greatly in part because Iowa was the first to offer, how he feels about the Hawkeye coaching staff and the comfort level he feels in Iowa City.
The Hawks are also in the lead because Williams hasn't had the chance to see any other schools, visit with any other coaching staff or see any other campuses.
That's about to change this weekend as the 6-foot-2, 215-pound, linebacker from Bolingbrook, Illinois and his father will hop in the family vehicle and head to their first of several planned unofficial visits this summer.
"We're going to Penn State this weekend," said Williams. "I spoke with Coach Vanderlinden at Penn State and everything is set for this weekend and I'm ready to see what else is out there.
"Next weekend, we're going to drive to Ohio State and visit with Coach Tressell and check out the campus and the facilities in Columbus.
"In July we're going to road trip down to Miami. Along the way, we're going to stop in and see Tennessee. Coach Adkins told us to let us know the exact day we're going to be there so he can make sure that Coach Fulmer and the rest of the staff are there to show me around.
"I spoke with Coach (Larry) Coker and Coach Hargreaves at Miami for quite a while the other night. I like Miami a lot. They're right behind Iowa right now.
Williams is one of the nations most sought after prospects regardless of position. Kyle is a "Top 20" national prospect that will be a difference maker at the next level.
We asked Kyle who his favorites were heading into his unofficial visits.
"I spoke with Coach (Pete) Carroll out at USC and he told me it would be his dream if he could sign both me and Keith Rivers. That got me pumped up."
What will Kyle Williams' favorites look like after his unofficial visit tour? Will Iowa still be on top? We'll have to wait until August 1st for those answers.
