"They knew I was going to commit. I told them before we got here," Hill said after verbalizing pledging to Iowa after the Hawkeyes public practice at Kinnick Stadium. "They were really happy for me."
Taylor and Lile signed with Iowa as members of the 2012 recruiting class. Hill gave the Hawkeyes their third known verbal commitment for the '13 group.
"It was the right thing to do," Hill said of the timing for his decision. "I felt comfortable with the players and the coaching staff and all. It's a family.
"I sat in on a couple of meetings and I like how they ran meetings and how they coach the players."
Scout.com lists Hill (6-1, 185) as a three-star recruit on a five-star scale. He's ranked as the 25th best safety prospect nationally in the '13 class.
"I think I'm good at going to get the ball," Hill said. "Getting interceptions is something that I do well."
"It's sunk in a little bit," Hill said of his decision. "It's still a kind of hard to believe. It's a little weight came off my shoulders, though."
Happy too were Lile and Taylor, who tweeted a photo of Hill in Hawkeye gear.
"They made it an easier decision," Hill said of choosing Iowa. "I'll come in having two guys I know and have played with. It helps knowing your friends saw the same things that you did in a school."
"He was happy," Hill said. "He told me good job and welcomed me."
