Some scouts feel that Dondre Alexander could play Division I football or basketball. If it's up to the 2013 Iowa City West Athlete, he'll end up on the hardwood at the next level.

Dondre Alexander has made up his mind. Given the choice between playing college basketball or football, the 2013 Iowa City West product has hoops in his heart.

"I love basketball," Alexander said. "I've been playing all of my life. I moved (to Iowa City) in seventh grade and football was something new to me so it was fun. But I think in college I want to play basketball."

Even if he receives more prestigious opportunities in football, which some onlookers believe that he will, than he does in basketball, Alexander his firm in his thinking.

"I'm getting looked at way more for football," He said. "Still, I just want to play basketball."

For football, Alexander said he's been hearing from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa State and Notre Dame. He is still waiting on his first scholarship offer. He's being looked at as a wide receiver.

In basketball, Alexander said he's had contact with Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Creighton.

"I've been talking to the coaches and they just want to keep in touch," Alexander said.
