Things Picking Up for Morgan

Jeremy Morgan enjoyed a strong junior campaign in helping Iowa City West High win a state championship. The run also is benefiting him on the recruiting trail.

Jeremy Morgan's recruiting stock was moving steadily. Then, the 2013 wing from Iowa City West High helped his team to the Class 4A state championship this winter.

"I'd say things are going pretty well," Morgan said. "Things are starting to pick up after that tournament that we had."

The 6-foot-6 prep junior said he's hearing the most from Northern Iowa, Creighton, Lehigh, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

"They're telling me that they're going to keep watching me this summer and that they're going to pick it up more and more as the summer goes on," said Morgan, who runs with the Iowa Barnstormers AAU program. "I feel like they want to see me get to the basket more and be more aggressive going to the hoop."

Morgan said he needs to get stronger and quicker with his feet to improve his ability to dribble drive.

College football programs also are interested in Morgan as a wide receiver.

"I'm leaving (the door) open right now," he said. "I'm probably more into the basketball side than football, but I'm leaving it open."

Morgan said he'd go the football route if he received "a big-time offer, from a big-time school." He reports hearing from Iowa, Iowa State and Florida in football.
