Returns from Iowa

Jeff Byers finished up his thirteenth and final unofficial visit to Iowa City yesterday. TheInsiders.com spoke with Jeff while he was in town, and he had this report to offer on his visit.

Byers has traveled the course of the country, viewing over tweleve different campuses. He finally completed #13, and came away very impressed.

"The visit went real well," Jeff said. "I met with the position coach, Reese Morgan, and also the head coach, Kirk Ferentz. I then sat down to talk with his son, Brian, OL CJ Barkema, and K Nate Kaeding. They were all quality people."

Byers, who originally lived in Dubuque, Iowa for six years, had attended a game at Kinnick Stadium in the past. Does those ties help the Hawkyes in his recruitment, or what exactly will he be looking for in narrowing his list?

"He wants to narrow my list down to five or seven schools in the near future," said Allan Byers, Jeff's father. "Chemistry is going to be the biggest factor as he wants to see how the team relates. Speaking to various players on the visits has been great, and they have been very honest."
