Tyjuan has camped at Michigan, Illinois, and Purdue this summer and has received offers from Illinois and Purdue, in addition to an offer from Iowa. Michigan also said an offer was there pending academics. Other schools interested in Jones include NC State, Maryland, and Ohio State.

As a sophomore, Jones was ranked as one of the top 5 DBs at the Ohio State camp. Plagued by injury last season, Jones only played two games for the Trotwood-Madison Rams. He has been working on speed, strength, and coverages in the off-season, in addition strengthening the ankle he broke last season to prevent injuring it again.

At 6-2, 208, Jones has good size for his position. He wants to play strong safety in college, but some schools are looking at him for the OLB position.

"I think I will be a strong safety in college, but whatever position they want me to play I'll be able to play," he said.

Jones is a self-described Charles Woodson-type player and wears No. 24 in honor of his favorite player. He has good vision on the field and has 4.4 speed. He also has good knowledge and understanding of the game and is aggressive in his coverages.

In terms of coverages, Jones said, "We have been doing a lot of 1-on-1 drills and we are about to go to a lot of 7-on-7 camps."

Jones says he could work on his patience on the field some.

"When I jam people, I get too excited. I need to let them come to me and become more patient."

His goals for the season include a state championship and to record the most tackles on the team for the Trotwood-Madison Rams.

Jones also plays the 3-4 positions for the Rams basketball team and averaged around 10 RPG last season.

Some criteria Jones has for deciding on a school are graduation rate, the reputation of the program, and the way the players are treated. Jones plans on studying electrical engineering, for the time being.
