Oseland Sees Iowa

Quinn Oseland is being proactive with his recruitment despite only being a high school sophomore. The Illinois tackle saw several campuses this spring, including Iowa. He talks about that stop and more about his process here.

Quinn Oseland casts an unusual shadow for a high school sophomore. At 6-foot-6, 305 pounds, he stands out in a crowd.

College football programs have taken notice of the Sacred Heart Griffin High (Springfield, IL) offensive tackle. Oseland traveled to see some of them this spring. Iowa was among his stops.

"I visited Iowa on April 28 for their spring game," Oseland said. "I met several of the coaches and I met with Coach (Kirk) Ferentz. He said he is due to stop at my school on May 23."

Oseland said he would camp at Iowa this summer. He plans on doing the same thing at 8-10 other schools.

"I liked the statistics of academics and players progressing to the next level (at Iowa)," Oseland said.

Kansas has been the most active in recruiting Oseland, he said. He has not been offered a scholarship by anyone yet.

"As far as an offer, I feel like one is close, but that's something I can't control," Oseland said.

In addition to Iowa, Oseland has unofficially visited Illinois and Kansas.

"I like to find out about the education, the athletics and what's it's like overall and socially," he said of what he looks for when he stops at a campus.

Oseland prides himself on his work ethic.

"I also think I'm pretty athletic and fluid moving for my size," he said.

Oseland said he will be patient in the recruiting process. Even when the offers start coming in, he wants to take his time.

"I will make my decision once I feel the timing is right and I have made the right choice," Oseland said.
