Izzo Stops at Iowa

NJ TE Ryan Izzo visited Iowa on Saturday. The Hawkeyes impressed him and he said they moved up his list of schools. He talked about it in this premium update.

Ryan Izzo reports an impressive group of scholarship offers coming from all over the country. One of the schools improved its standing with the New Jersey tight end.

"I think after this weekend, (Iowa) definitely moved up on my list," Izzo said.

Izzo stopped at the Big Ten school on Saturday for a look around. He liked what he saw.

"I was just very comfortable with Coach (Chris) White, and the rest of the staff made it a great trip," the 6-foot-6, 210-pound Izzo said. "Also, taking to Coach (D.J.)Hernandez about just how much they use their tight ends was great."

Izzo attends Pope John XXIII High in Sparta, NJ. Iowa is a long way from home.

"I thought it was a beautiful town," Izzo said. "It had a lot going on. It was fun."

Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz expressed a high interest level in Izzo, he said.

"He just thought I had a lot of potential and thought I could put on a lot of weight and be great tight end in their offense," Izzo said. "I thought he was a great guy. You can tell he's been doing this for long time."

Izzo is slated to visit Wisconsin on Sunday and be at USC on Tuesday. He said he has not scheduled any other visits beyond that.

Izzo, who is reporting 19 scholarship offers, is Scout.com's 33rd-ranked tight end nationally in the 2014 class. He does not have a commitment date set.

"I wanna make my decision before the season," Izzo said. "If I'm not ready, I'll make it later."
