Iowa Eying Bagley

Richardre Bagley packs a lot of power in a smaller frame. The Georgia athlete reports five offers and others, like Iowa and Mississippi State, are showing interest. He talks about his recruitment in this premium story.

Iowa is dipping into Georgia in hopes of luring recruits to the Midwest. Athlete Richardre Bagley is a prospect hearing from the Hawkeyes.

Bagley plays running back and defensive back for Hillgrove High in Powder Springs. The 5-foot-8, 175-pound speedster reports scholarship offers from Charlotte, Furman, Air Force, Mercer and Kennesaw State.

"I first heard from Iowa in May when Coach (LeVar) Woods came to visit my school," Bagley said. "Coach Woods told me that they were pretty interested in me, but they wanted to see how the season went for me. (He) said they liked me on both sides of the ball. He could see me as a running back or as a DB."

While he hails from another region of the country, Bagley feels good about what the Hawkeyes offer.

"I think real highly of Iowa," he said. "I know they're a program with great tradition, they're in a great conference and always have a good season."

Other than the schools that have offered Bagley a scholarship, he said Mississippi State is showing him the most interest. He has visits to Charlotte, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State behind him.

"I plan on visiting Mississippi State again next month, and maybe Yale," Bagley said.

Bagley said he is considering a visit to Iowa as well. He said he is open to going far away from home for college if the school meets his requirements.

"The most important thing to me is just making me feel at home because you'll get the most production out of me if I feel real comfortable where I'm at," Bagley said. "Also, the education aspect is a big deal for me."

Bagley wants to study engineering. He's leaning towards biomedical and aerospace.

"I want to major in one of these two because I absolutely love working and researching with technology, and to do that while helping mankind advance is exciting to think about," he said.

Bagley reports bench pressing 305 pounds and squatting 400, showing he has power in a smaller frame.

"I feel my best attributes are my speed and fearlessness," Bagley said. "I've never be afraid to go up against the biggest guys, and I'll always try to kill you with speed."

Bagley said his top two schools are Charlotte and Furman. He's considering a July commitment but is open to letting it go into his season.

"I'm expecting some others schools to come into the picture that would shake that up a little bit," Bagley said. "Mississippi State is showing a lot of interest and I'm hoping Iowa's interest will grow once they see what I do during the season."
