Making an Impression

Steve Breaston knows what he wants, and that is a chance to play Quarterback at high-profile D1 school. However, sometimes you are not always viewed the way you would like. As the season approaches, Steve knows he is going to have one last shot at showing college recruiters all he can do at the QB position.

In some cases, a player may be forced to switch his desired position because he only has one or two Divison One offers. However, in Steve's case, he has a variety of schools to choose from with offers from Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Penn State, Iowa, Pitt, Boston College, and Northwestern. Interesting enough, Northwestern is the only current school looking at him as a quarterback. That tells you the type of athlete we are talking about when considering Steve Breaston's talents.

"I want to play quarterback, that is important to me," commented Steve. "However, I realize that I might be helping the team best playing another position. I'd have no problem playing defense, as I could see myself as a CB or even see myself stay on offense as a WR."

"Distance isn't going to be a problem for me. I want to make sure I feel comfortable because how comfortable you feel with your surroundings will impact how well you do in the classroom and on the field."

"There is a good shot I'll officially visit Iowa. They are one of my top schools. I just called Coach O'Keefe on the 7th and had a good conversation. They seem like they want me more than other schools and because of that, I feel I should show the same interest."

Steve, much like Ed Hinkel last year, is one of the top athletes on the east coast. It should be interesting to see how this unfolds, and whether Iowa tells Steve he'll have a shot to play QB. I think Iowa will remain in this race until the end.
