Many Hawks have been amazed at the staff's ability to find top talent at such an early stage in the recruiting cases. This has been a re-occuring theme over the past two recruiting classes with the likes of Matt Roth and Bob Sanders.
Brandon Darlington, from Dowington, PA, has to be ranked up there with Mark Farris and Brian Borgoyn as one of the top three lineman in the state of Pennslyvania. Incidently, Iowa stands very well with both Borgoyn and Darlington. Brandon has taken care of himself in the classroom with a 2.7 GPA and 1120 on the SAT.
"The schools that have offered me are Rutgers, Iowa, Miami(FL), Syracuse, and Wisconsin," stated Brandon. "I'm pretty wide open right so there is no favorites."
"I don't know a whole lot about Iowa, except for what I read in the mail they send me. Coach Philbin is the one recruiting me, and the head coach and he seems to have a good OL background."
"The main factors in my decision will be education, as I want to major in criminology, and the best chance to gain quality playing time. I want to be taught well because your OL coach is very important in your success."
"I have the nickname, "TinMan", because in the seventh grade I broke a kid's leg while playing football. They all say I have no heart so they started calling me the "TinMan."
Sounds like a very good ingredient that Coach Ferentz desires on the Offensive Line. Once again, it should be interesting to see if Iowa can shock people come December by landing an outstanding sleeper.
