Iowa Offers Anunoby

With the evaluation period behind us, Iowa made a move on another forward in the Midwest. Missouri's Ogugua Anunoby reported that the Hawkeyes offered him a scholarship and he talked about it with HI.

Ogugua Anunoby visited Iowa for the Black and Gold Blowout last fall and long has liked the program. Monday, he was invited to join it.

The 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward from Jefferson City (MO) High reported a Hawkeye scholarship offer. Iowa joined Wichita State, San Jose State, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, Murray State Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Drake and Missouri State in extending Anunoby an opportunity

"Georgia and Indiana are recruiting me hard. I think they may offer soon," he added.

Anunoby said he saw the Hawkeye offer coming. The coaches told him last week that they were close to doing so.

"After the Under Armor finals I saw (Iowa) at every game. They called me the day after it ended and told me they were still very interested," he said.

Coach Fran McCaffery called Anunoby on Monday to offer him a scholarship.

"He said he liked how versatile, long and athletic I am and how I could guard and play on the perimeter. He also likes how I shoot the ball," Anunoby said.

The Hawkeye offer impacted the high school senior.

"It means a lot because they don't offer a lot of players. For them to offer me means they must really like and want me," he said.

Anunoby said he's going to unofficially visit campuses before school starts. From there he will take official visits to programs to be determined.

"I will visit (Iowa) officially sometime. I am trying to commit somewhere before signing day," Anunoby.
